BONNAROO

I am currently obsessed with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Karen O is my newest idol and Nick Zinner is the sexiest skinny guy as of now.

Bonnaroo was this past weekend:
Thurday, June 11 - Sunday, June 14 (today)
So the festivities are still going on as I write this.
Here are some photos from the Bonnaroo website, except for the poster which is from Style Caster. I do not know how to make the photos any larger within the post, but click on the collage and it will enlarge.

Clockwise from top left: Animal Collective, Bonnaroo, Janelle Monae, Passion Pit, of Montreal.

Arrested Again

Pete was arrested again yesterday. According to may news reports from sites like the Guardian, Associated Press, and Festival Wise, he pleaded guilt to heroin use and driving without a license or insurance. He was released on a £50,000 ($82,000) bail. There was also £35 worth of heroin in his car and £500 in his house.

He goes to court in August but until then he has a 7pm to 7am curfew in which he must stay in his Wiltshire house (except for when performing), he can not ride in the front seat of any vehicle, must attend weekly Narcotic Anonymous meetings, and must have his anti-addiction implant again to blocks his opiate receptors. The Guardian also said "the court also heard that Doherty, 30, has a £100-a-day heroin habit."

I've been reading some of the comments on these articles, and they are so full of hate. People bash on him saying "Who cares about this dumbass druggie? Let him rot in jail again!" and "never heard his music. Don't care to. A maid will find him soon in some hotel room. To bad his organs wont be fit for donation."

It kills me that people are bashing on him and for what reasons? I hate how so many people bash on him because they all they see his a druggie and Kate Moss's ex-boyfriend. Even in most of the positive interviews with him, they mention his drug use and how he used to date Kate Moss. Why must people only know him in these ways?

Why can't people listen to his music and not judge it before even listening to it? Of course if they listen to a song by him thinking "this is shit", that is what they will hear. Listen to "Music When the Lights Go Out" by the Libertines and then try telling me it is shit. The poetry of ever line in that song is astounding, as it is in most of his songs.

I am not trying to sound like a fan who thinks they know him and back whatever he does. However, because I actually listen to his music and have read his lyrics and the diaries from Books of Albion, I think I see more of a real side to him rather than the druggie fuck up painted of him by the media.

Please, remember him as a musician and poet.

BFD

BFD photos finally up! So the battery to my camera died after about 10 minutes and my friend has my camera, so the few photos I did take, I do not have. So after hours (really) of looking for BFD photo on peoples Facebook pages, Myspace pages, Google, and the BFD site I found these. But then there was this issue with them not uploading. So I had to put them all into collages using Picasa. That took about another hour and for a blog that only two people read. (KT & V)

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Crystal Castles are now two of my favorite bands.

Well I hope you two enjoy these photos. (If you really like any, I can send them to you as the individual file, and not in a collage.)

Getting a feel for BFD. Clockwise from top left: people walking around the food and t-shirt area. The crowd in front of the main stage holding up their lighters. The main stage. The Bud Light stage.

The Subsonic Tent (my home for the day): Villains. Villains. Steve Aoki.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs: Karen O on the Main Stage. Nick, Brian, and Karen pose after their interview. Awkward interview. Karen, Brian, and Nick performing.

Main Stage audience. Karen O (spitting out beer I think).

 More Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Alice Glass from Crystal Castles in the Subsonic tent. The Crystal Castles shirt I bought there. I wish I remembered them more and that we didn't have to leave their set so early.

Pete Doherty Arrested, But Libertines Reunite for Gig

My camera died at BFD, but I have been finding photos from it online and I will put up the best soon. But I received some quite saddening news this morning.

This is the best news report I have found so far. It is from AFP.

GENEVA (AFP) — Rocker Pete Doherty was arrested and fined after testing positive for drugs on his arrival in Geneva off a flight from Britain, Swiss police said on Monday.

A local newspaper said that the arrest came after he was found collapsed after injecting himself with heroin.

"He was arrested, tested for usage and then released after an hour and a half," a Geneva police spokesman said.

The British singer was freed after paying a fine, police confirmed.

Swiss newspaper Le Matin reported on Monday that a British Airways crew had contacted the police after finding the Babyshambles frontman collapsed in the plane's toilet with a used syringe last Thursday.

The singer was using heroin, said the report.

After he was freed, the singer played at a scheduled concert at western Switzerland's Neuchatel.

British Airways said it could not confirm details of the reported incident, but a spokeswoman said: "Swiss police met one of our flights and a man was detained."

Doherty has had several run-ins with the police in the past over drugs use and served a brief sentence in prison last year.

But while I was searching for these news articles, I came across some uplifting news about Pete, and all of the Libertines. On May 16, 2009 the Libertines reunited in the London Rhythm Factory for a tribute show to the promoter, John Sedassy. This was the first time they played since 2004. The Libertines performed that night with the line-up of Pete Doherty, Carl BarĂ¢t, and Gary Powell, but were not joined by John Hassal. Instead, Babyshambles bassist Drew McConnel filled in. "Up the Bracket", "Time for Heroes", and of course "Can't Stand Me Now" were among the songs played that night. The first time I saw a youtube video of "Can't Stand Me Now" while the Libertines were touring without Pete, I started tearing up. Now seeing them reunite, I was almost laughing I was so happy.

Preparing for BFD

I just bought BFD tickets yesterday! I know the line up is pretty lame, but I love festivals and haven't been to one in a while. Although this isn't really a festival. But I think I will still have fun, and for $25 (including services charges and all). I am mainly looking forward to:

Yeah Yeah Yeahs at Sasquatch this year. Photo from Sasquatch photo gallery. I wanted to put up an amazing photo I once had of Karen O at BFD, but I couldn't find it. But this one will do.
